How to Find a Good Realtor to Help Me Buy My First Home

Today’s housing market appears to be substantially different from what we’ve seen in recent years. Rising loan rates have complicated market circumstances, as has some sellers’ failure to respond to changing demand. With this evolving picture in mind, knowing how to choose a real estate agent is undoubtedly the most crucial initial step in your home-buying experience.

85% of home buyers said their agent was a valuable resource during the home buying process, according to a National Association of Realtors. This is why finding the right person for the job is critical. After all,  I will guide you while you find your dream house and reach the closing table. I will walk you through all you need to know and provide resources that you won’t be able to find elsewhere.

In 2023, the market is changing. Sellers are less reluctant to work with buyers as much as they once did. It is a buyer’s market, but that doesn’t mean they are right. They believe that they will earn a premium on their home without doing much to it. However, the right Realtor can certainly change their mind. The days of bargaining are returning. A buyer’s agent with the knowledge and experience to negotiate updates and repairs as well as the price.

Do You Need a Realtor?

If you’re purchasing your first home, you’ve probably taken a few virtual tours online and started downloading all the apps to sift through. While this is becoming much easier than it was in the past, can it replace the services of a professional Realtor?   There are so many things that go into purchasing a home, which is why I believe everyone should find a realtor that is best for them. You want to find someone aware of the market trends, capable of listening to your wants and needs, and who understands your situation. I take the time to listen to my clients, take notes on their must-haves, and search high and low for properties that will suit them. This doesn’t mean just searching properties currently listed but also networking to find out about properties that are about to be listed but haven’t hit the market.

Do I have to pay my Realtor when I buy a house?

Yes! A real estate transaction is a complicated process. I work hard to save you money, time, and pain by assisting you in finding the appropriate home and negotiating the best purchase conditions on your behalf. I will also help lessen your stress by leading you through each stage of the home-buying process. This is especially crucial if you’re a first-time homebuyer. As a Realtor, I am also well-connected in the industry and could recommend a reliable lender, inspection, and other service providers.

Most of the time, however, you will not pay any fees as the buyer is out of pocket. Even if the home for sale is not their listing, the seller will typically pay, which will occur at closing. Be sure to check out my blog Choosing the Right Realtor to Help You Buy or Sell for more information

How Can I Locate a Reputable Realtor?

You’ll most likely be dealing with your Realtor for the next six months, so it’s critical to pick someone you like and who can protect your financial interests. Request recommendations from family, coworkers, and friends to locate someone with the personality, skill, and experience that matches your requirements. Your lender might also be a helpful resource in locating an agent. Remember that your agent is working for you. You should respect and trust them. Take a few minutes to interview them with questions or concerns you might have. A respectful realtor, such as myself, understands the importance of this decision and would have no issues with such an interview.
