Choosing the right Realtor to help you buy or sell is one of the most important decisions you will make during any real estate transaction. There are many moving parts in a real estate deal, and when issues arise, it will be your Realtor and the surrounding network of professionals (title company, lender, home inspector, etc) that will help to keep the transaction moving ahead towards a successful closing.
People often wonder how they should go about choosing the right Realtor so they can identify someone that will best meet their needs, so we put together a list of a few targeted questions to get the conversation started:
1) In what area do you live and work?
2) How many years of experience do you have in real estate?
3) How many homes have you helped buyers find in the area during the past 12 months? How many homes have you sold in over the past 12 months?
4) Are you willing to provide references for clients you have recently worked with?
5) What are you most passionate about in your real estate business?
These questions will often lead to others, but by this point you should have some answers that will get you one step closer to selecting the right representation for you. Other things you may want to consider are:
1) How responsive is the Realtor to your questions, comments and concerns? Do they answer your calls, emails, texts in a timely manner?
2) Do they approach their clients and business with a high level of ethics and standards?
3) Do they have a strong presence and involvement in the community where they serve?
These are just a few questions to help you find the right Realtor to help you buy or sell, but the bottom line is that you have to feel comfortable with your chosen Realtor because you will likely be spending a lot of time together.
