Summer Reading at the Queen Creek Library 2019

It’s that time of the year again when schools out and the kids are home bored and in desperate need of something to occupy their time! As a full time Queen Creek Realtor and mom, I too know the struggle of keeping my kids entertained throughout the summer months, especially in a productive way. The good news is the Queen Creek Library has got you covered! Galactic-inspired summer reading started at the Queen Creek Library on June 1st and will continue through Aug. 1st. All ages are welcome; and there are weekly prizes/incentives, free giveaways and so much more!

What’s this summer reading all about?

You’re probably wondering…“What’s this summer reading all about?” Maricopa County Reads is an award-winning online reading program, and the theme this year is a “A Universe of Stories.” The program’s primary goal is to help maintain participant’s literacy skills throughout the summer months, when learning loss can be experienced by those transitioning between school years. The program also aims to improve early literacy skills among pre-readers and their families.

How Does the Program Work?

The name of the game is to complete certain tasks/challenges to earn points, unlock digital badges, and win prizes!

While supplies last, participants will earn prizes such as:

If participants log 20 minutes of reading every day, they’ll be entered for a chance to win weekly drawing prizes!

What is a Community Experience?

Community experiences are special events, such as hands-on workshops, classes, festivals, tasks, and scavenger hunts, that takes place outside of the library. These events serve as a way for participants in the summer reading program to connect with one another.

When you visit one of community experiences, you will receive a secret code. If you input that code into your account, you’ll earn bonus points and a special badge!
