Skyline Ranch is Located in San Tan Valley, Not Queen Creek

As a full-time Real Estate Agent in the Queen Creek and surrounding areas, I often hear about all the confusion around where the neighborhood, Skyline Ranch, is located. A lot of people, even the ones who reside in Skyline Ranch, mistakenly believe that it is located in Queen Creek. In actuality, the neighborhood is located in San Tan Valley, which is outside of the Town of Queen Creek’s borders. Now you must be wondering, why are so many people confused about the location of this particular neighborhood?

But If Skyline Ranch Isn’t Located in Queen Creek, Why Do I Have a QC Address?

The main reason for all the uncertainty is because the post office has part of Skyline Ranch in a Queen Creek (85142) zip code, while the other part is in a San Tan Valley (85143) zip code. The US Postal Service established the zip code this way for efficient mail delivery, but this does not make Skyline Ranch included in the Town of Queen Creek’s boundaries. Instead, Skyline Ranch is a part of unincorporated Pinal County. That being said, houses in unincorporated Pinal County are frequently referred to as “Queen Creek” because the post office uses the QC name in the mailing addresses, even though these homes are not within the town boundaries.

The gray section of the below map shows the Queen Creek’s town boundaries. As you can see, there are areas in the 85142 zip code that are within the town boundaries. However, there are many county islands and many unincorporated areas which would be considered San Tan Valley, not Queen Creek. This is true for the Skyline Ranch neighborhood, despite some homes having a Queen Creek 85142 zip code.

But If My Address is Queen Creek, Shouldn’t I have QC City Services?

Because the addressing system has caused so much confusion around whether or not Skyline Ranch is a part of QC or not, a lot of people automatically assume they have QC city services, such as water, sewer, trash/recycling, library, police, and fire. However, as mentioned before, Skyline Ranch is a part of San Tan Valley, which means the town of Queen Creek is not responsible to provide these services to this neighborhood. Your mailing address does not count as proof of residency in QC, which is important to know because simple things like getting a Queen Creek Library card will not be possible if you live in Skyline Ranch.

Although Skyline Ranch is not located in the Town of Queen Creek, it is a wonderful, family-oriented community with many amenities, such as parks, picnic areas, green belts and walking trails! Not to mention, you are only a short drive away from all the entertainment, dining, and shopping the QC community has to offer! And on top of all that, Skyline Ranch is also nearby San Tan Mountain Regional Park, which contains more than 10,000 acres of natural resources and trails for you and your family to go explore!
